Week 14 Results (Posted 30/06/08)

With just 2 rearranged matches remaining (neither of which affect the tables) all the tables are now complete. There was a sting in the tail for several teams.
In World Div 1 St. Augustine's B went to Chiswick & beat Globetrotters & so managed to finish above them in 2nd place. Leamington A already won the division.
In World Div 2 Clarence Sands slipped up at the final hurdle losing to O'Donoghue's A while Orchard Tavern A beat Tournament & so finished top of the division, Clarence finished 2nd (the only time they have not been top this season)!
Only two meaningless games in Old EPA Div 1 Laurie Arks beat Duke of Cornwall & Norman Arms drew with Connolly's, Windmill already having won the Div with Laurie Arms finishing 2nd.
In the closest of all Divisions, Old EPA Div 2, Brackenbury Arms B lost to O'Donoghue's B while Orchard Tavern B were drawing with Live & Let Live so the final order is 1st Orchard Tavern B 2nd Live & Let Live with Brackenbury Arms B a point behind in 3rd place.

Although there are no changes in position in World Div 1 wins by the bottom 2 clubs, Leamington B & Chiswick Dynamos away to Chiswick Globetrotters & St. Augustine's B respectively, & a draw between Cowshed & St. Augustine's C, see the teams much closer together with Leamington A now 4 points clear.

In Old EPA Div 1 wins by the top 2 teams, Windmill & Laurie Arms saw them open up a 5 point lead at the top of the table.
In Old EPA Div 2 wins for Live & Let Live, O'Donoghue's B & St. Augustine's Caballeros & a draw between Brackenbury Arms B & Orchard Tavern B has meant there are 5 teams within 2 points of the leaders with only 4 games left.

Cup & Plate Round 2 Results (Posted 11/03/08)

In the Frank Reynolds Memorial Trophy (played under World Rules), just like the FA Cup, neither of the 2 leading teams in World Div 1 are in the semi-final. Chiswick Globetrotters lost at home to Cowshed & Leamington A lost at home to St. Augustine's B, also through are St. Augustine's C & the sole survivor of World Div 2 O'Donoghue's A.
In the Denis Hyatt Memorial Plate (played under Old EPA Rules) there were comfortable wins (to reach the semi-final) for Connolly's & Windmill, a much closer win for Shamrock Club & a win (in the extra game) for the sole representative of Old EPA Div 2 Orchard Tavern B.

Week 7 Results (Posted 06/03/08)

A major surprise in World Div 1 when Leamington B managed to beat St. Augustine's B this allowed Chiswick Globetrotters to leap into the lead in this division.
The only change in World Div 2 was Rileys West 12 & O'Donoghue's A changing places.
No change in Old EPA Div 1 with wins for Norman Arms, Laurie Arms & Windmill (who maintained the only 100% record).
The only change in Old EPA Div 2 was Brackenbury Arms B going top over Earl of Derby but there is only 1 point between the top 5 teams.

Shamrock Club (Posted 11/02/08)

Shamrock Club has closed down (temporary or permanent) & they will now be playing their 'home' games in St. Augustine's. Doubles Competitions (Posted 06/02/08)

There will be two Doubles Competitions this season, one using ‘World Eight Ball rules’ and the other using ‘Old EPA rules’. Players from the teams playing ‘World Eight Ball rules’ can only enter the ‘World Eight Ball rules’ Doubles Competition, while players from the teams in the ‘Old EPA rules’ section have the choice between the two competitions. As both Doubles Competitions will be run parallel to each other on the same Monday nights the Old EPA players must indicate on the Entry form which Competition they wish to compete in. They cannot enter both, no indication – no entry.

Entrance is £5.00 per pair.

Both Competitions will be played at venues across our scope. Four pairs will be grouped at one venue with the winners progressing to the next round. Three matches will take place at each venue, for example: Pair A vs. Pair B, Pair C vs. Pair D, then the winner between Pairs A & B vs. the winner between Pairs C & D.

Please check the Doubles Competition guidelines in the Doubles Competition section for further details.

Good luck to all participants

Week 4 Results (Posted 06/02/08)
In World Division 1 it looks as though its going to be nip and tuck throughout the course of the season with no one creating an advantage as of yet.
In World Div 2 Clarence Sands are definitely the team to beat having opened up a 5 point gap, only 1 point separates the remaining teams from each other.
Similarly in EPA Div 1 Windmill have a 3 point gap at the top over Connolly's who have a 2 point gap over the rest.
In EPA Div 2 any of the top 6 teams could do it as there is only 2 points between them.
Week 3 Results (Posted 01/02/08)
Please note the new names of the Divisions, World Div 1, World Div 2, EPA Div 1 & EPA Div 2 replacing Div A, B, C & D respectively.
Even after just 3 games there are only 3 teams with 100% records, Chiswick Globetrotters in World Div 1, Clarence Sands in World Div 2, & Windmill in EPA Div 1. There are several teams who have yet to lose a game St. Augustine's B & Leamington A in World Div 1, Rileys West 12 in World Div 2 & Brackenbury Arms B, Orchard Tavern B & Live & Let Live in EPA Div 2.
Match break off (Posted 28/01/08)
"There seems to be a bit of confusion over how the break off for each match was decided at the AGM. The HOME team breaks first then alternate breaks in the first session of six singles, then in the second session of singles the AWAY team breaks first then alternate breaks thereafter. In Knockout Cup & Plate competitions, in the event of a tie at 6 - 6, the break off for the 13th & deciding game is determined by a toss of a coin. I apologise for any misunderstanding". Frank Callaghan
Match and Time referees (Posted 28/01/08)
In the first session of six singles the HOME team MATCH referee while the AWAY team TIME referee. In the second session of singles the roles are reversed. Match referees decision prevails at all times. In Knockout Cup & Plate competitions, in the event of a tie at 6 - 6, the 13th and deciding game is MATCH refereed by the HOME team while the AWAY team TIME referee.
Drawn matches (Posted 28/01/08)
In the event of a match being drawn the HOME team captain is responsible for phoning the result through and also for submitting the result card.
Week 2 Results (Posted 22/01/08)
There were some high scores, in Div A Chiswick Globetrotters beat Leamington B 11 - 1, in Div C Windmill beat Connolly's 10 - 2 & in Div D Earl of Derby beat O'Donoghue's B 10 - 2. At least a third of the matches resulted in a draw. In Div A Chiswick Dynamos & St. Augustine's B, in Div B Tournament & Rileys West 12, in Div C Norman Arms & Laurie Arms & in Div D Kent House & Live & Let Live, & Orchard Tavern B & Brackenbury Arms B all drew 6 - 6.

2008 season (Posted 01/01/08)
The fixtures for the 2008 season are now available in the fixtures section. With both sets of rules in action this season and many team movements the structure of the League has reverted back to four divisions. Incorporating the Doubles & Captain's Competitions the new season is scheduled to finish around the end of July, with the next season (2008/09) after that, starting in September hopefully running to a football season year.
I hope you all enjoyed the Christmas festivities and on behalf of myself and the Committee wish you all a Prosperous New Year.
Frank Callaghan
